I got a 370 bluetooth card and for the life of me I can't figure out how to install it in my Studio 15 even after reading the directions on Dell's website. First of all did they send me the right card it measures something like 1/2" by 1 3/8"?

After taking the back cover off of the laptop there is a pretty big slot marked WPAN with a blue cable ran to that spot held down by a black piece of vinyl. The 370 I got doesn't seem to fit the plug-in connection unless I'm missing something. Also I don't see what would hold the card down because it isn't long enough to reach what looks like 2 screw down posts at the top of the slot.

I've never installed a mini-card before or even seen what they should look like, can anyone verify I have the right card or whether I'm just not smart enough to figure out to install it, I won't be offended if the latter?

If your Mini-PCIe card they sent you doesn't look like the above full-height Dell Wireless 370 bluetooth WPAN, then you more than likely have a 802.11 WiFi half-height Mini-PCIe meant for the WLAN slot instead...

Somms this what I posted awhile back - Is the 370 Bluetooth card (Dell Part# 430-3209) for $20, the 370 Bluetooth card (Dell Part# 430-3342) for $30 and the 370 Refurbished (Dell Part# M960G) for $11 all the same cards? There are way too many similar card for me to keep straight.

And you answered - Yeah, all those 370 Mini-PCIe WPAN cards are the same except for diff versions of HCI firmware maybe...

I ended up ordering the 370 card for $20 Dell part# 430-3209 and it's apparently not the right card it's too small.

So did I order the wrong card or did Dell screw up and send the wrong card?

Or is it like this in the middle with the blue cable going to it?

Those are both pictures off my website i took... The first is a small bluetooth module for the vostro 1500/inspiron 1525 that fits above the keyboard. The studio uses mini pci one like you were shown.

Sorry man but the picture I posted is the Dell Wireless 370 card...there is only one type of this Broadcom card...more than likely Dell screwed up and sent you something else.

Thanks, your first picture looks like the one they sent me it's really small. The wait time to talk with Dell today was so long I just went ahead and ordered the refurbished one you ordered so maybe I'll get it sooner. It might be more hassle than it's worth to send the wrong card back since I'm not sure how involved that is so I may have to eat the first card.

If I ever get the right 370 card and begin to install it:

    1. Does the card lay on the black vinyl in the WPAN slot that is holding the blue cable, or do you remove it?

    2. There are two screw posts in the WPAN card slot with one of them appearing to have a nut that screws off. So do you screw off the nut, slide the card in to connect to onboard connector, top part of card slips over the two posts and then screw nut back on? Then there is a connection on the card for the blue cable.

I finally got the correct 370 bluetooth card a refurbished one but apparently you need a screw to screw down the card to one of the posts to hold it in place, so was Dell supposed to supply one with the card?

If not then how do you find a screw that will work?

Where are the instructions on Dell's site for installing? I keep finding instructions for driver installation but not physical.
