Not sure if you're showing off your collection of wallpapers or the LCD!

Haha...im just so happy to get my laptop they had me waiting till october and then suddenly i get a call saying its shipped and now i already have it way before the ESD. You can imagine i am very excited =). :D :D

I decided to show off diff wallpapers so you could see how vibrant the colors are in any picture type. This is by far the LCD i have had, much better than the SEC..and i wont even go to the AUO heh :)

opnr does the screen have a grainy or sparkely look to it, on white backgrounds at least?

I have been getting a lot of PMs asking me for the part number for my screen. It seems dell is saying they only have SEC screens for the 1720. This is not true, ask for my part number and they will look it up and get you the same screen i have.

The part number on my invoice is :
" RP616 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 17, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array..., VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC...., TLF, LGP"

So i think the RP616 is what dell is looking for when you ask them for a specific screen.
    Good Luck

Looks great, congratulations! I hope I won't spoil your fun by asking the following 2 questions:

    1. What does light leakage look like when the whole screen is black but the LCD is On, at maximum brightness level? You can see this with either Dead Pixel Buddy displaying black -or- by setting desktop background to simple black color (even though your wallpapers are beautiful!) and hiding the taskbar.

    2. Are there any diagonal shadows in the bottom corners? You'd only notice them when the entire screen is displaying a uniform light color. You can use the same approaches as for black in question #1.

You pics are great and quite inspiring, but unfortunately they don't seem to give a clear answer to the above questions.

    Thanks,
