Does anyone have any pictures of this? I'd like to have an idea of how small things look at this resolution and size.

holy sh**! 1920x1200, that is a 24" monitor resolution. Most 22" and below screens don't have that high of a resolution. things are going to look super small on a 15.4" laptop. hell, even 1680x1050 (the next step lower) is pretty small on a laptop at 15.4".

It actually isn't that bad. Vista has pretty good font scaling built in, so all of the Vista stuff looks pretty normal and isn't hard to read at all.

Microsoft Office 2007 works like a dream and scales everything very well.

The biggest 'problems' arise in the web browsers. Websites that are implemented through image-mapped JPEGs or GIFs are especially bad. But this is more of a problem that is general to WUXGA, which is gradually being resolved as a greater proportion of PC users are acquiring high resolution screens.

Remember, just a few years ago, anything above 1024x768 was considered to be for high-end professionals. Now you can buy 22" and 24" LCDs with WUXGA for $200-$300, so most new computers come with them.

BTW, its very awesome to have 2 WUXGA displays like I have, one on the laptop, and one external. I can move stuff from screen to screen without doing any resizing of windows whatsoever. Or even stretch spreadsheets out so I can see a crazy number of rows and columns.

I have this resolution on my toughbook cf-52 and it takes some Icon/Fonts dpi adjustments to get use to. Some text isnt adjusted properly sometimes like the above post mentions and its small! After a couple weeks of headaches I got used to It and now I think everything else is so wastefully HUGE. 90% is rendered correctly though.

i cant do without it. addicted hahha. i can do 2 browser windows and a MSN contact list all side by side...or a browser window and msn convo windows on the other side.

for work....i can have two word docs, or a browser and word side by side. very useful..very convenient i hate switching from window to window when im referencing another file. before that i used to print out the file im referencing from. sucks cos if im quoting i cant just copy paste lol..

from 3 years of working on a 17" wuxga, the mere thought of 15.4 gives me sharp pain at the base of my neck...

It's really not that bad. It's great for people who love the real estate, like myself.

It isn't that bad... I opted for a lower resolution because I'd like to have good eye sight when I get older. In the end, that high of a resolution on a 15.4" display isn't the healthiest option for your long term vision care.

lol Sitting too close in fron of the display isn't healthy, the resolution doesn't matter.

True, but if someone's not used to the small text then they might find themselves getting intimately close to the screen ;)

not sure what u guys are talkin about when u'r sayin its "bad". i, personally, will never switch back to a lower-resolution screen.

I couldnt live without wuxga/1920*1200. I cant deal with 1280*800 on my tablet for a little bit, but for extended periods of coding and/or multitasking I have to have the real estate.

I don't understand the people who say its 'too high' of a resolution.

I mean, printed books have resolution of 300-600dpi. Do people go blind reading printed books? No.

If the text is too small, that's a software issue that can be corrected by switching to softare that is designed with modern high-resolution screens in mind (ie: Vista instead of WindowsXP).

Of course, there's gazillions of people out there that are ignorant concerning Vista..... But really, 15.4" without Vista's font scaling is horrible. I'd never suggest someone get a 15.4" WUXGA screen unless they were committed to running Vista or some other OS that has a good font scaling engine in its UI.

Well, resolution is very subjective - some ppl love high-res, some would rather have larger icons/fonts that lower resolution provides.

Personally, I can't get enough resolution :) I think WUXGA is fine on a 15.4" screen.

like i've said, for the 101st time, why not have both???

icons and font sizes are fully customizable. they even scale perfectly in vista.

    silly goose :p

Can anyone take a digital photo of their 15.4" WUXGA screen? Preferably one with an open spreadsheet and one with a few open web browsers.

Seriously, it would be a huge help.
