    hi,

I've just noticed a fat pink line going vertically through a middle of the screen of my i6000 - all the way from the top to the bottom. It's definitely on the LCD because it stays there during rebooting.

Somebody please tell me it will go away :(

    IT WILL GO AWAY!

Send it to Dell and have them replace the LCD. It'll be gone!

Just like the others, call dell and get it replaced. If you have mail in service, make sure to back up your HDD before you send it in. They have been know to delete/format HDD before.

If you have at home service, you should be able to get it replaced in a couple of days. They have to send the part to the tech, then he'll call you and make an appointment. You can have this done at any location, not just your house. I can replace mine in under an hour, so it shouldn't take more than 30mins-1hour to replace

    one more question:
how to check exactly what kind of warranty do I have?

    on my invoice it says:

    is this at home service?

At-Home Service means they will come to your residence and repair the notebook there.

You can see the details of your warranty by doing the following:
    1. Go to support.dell.com
    2. Enter Service Tag Number
    3. Select Orginial System Configuration & click go
    4. click on Service Contracts & Warranties

This will give you all of the warranties that you have on your laptop as well as the amount of time left in each one.

From the info that you posted, you do have a 3 year at home warranty including Nights & Weekends. The Soft Contracts-Quailserve is the 3rd party company that will do your tech support if they come to your house.

Go back to support.dell.com. Under the box where you enter your service tag in, you'll see a drop down menu that has "Drivers & Downloads". Click on that, and you should see the option to choose System Configuration.

sorry, I've missed it the first time.

I guess I should be happy

but what exactly is "Limited Technical Support" and "Next Business Day, Includes Nights/Weekends"? what's the difference?

It's okay. A lot of users don't realize that there are other options to choose from besides the drivers & downloads. I edited out your image since it has your service tag number. Each laptop has their own service tag number, and I would hate for someone to get ahold of that number.

Limited Tech Support - is the warranty for your hardware parts. It is limited because it only covers damaged cause by the hardware, not spills/drops/intentional damage.

The business day/nights/weekends is suppose to be the terms of when your at home service is. As soon as the tech receives the part, you can schedule to have your laptop fixed the nextday or on a night/weekend. Here are the hours according to dell:
    M-F 8am - 9pm, Sat. 8am - 5pm, and Sun. 10am - 5pm.

So, uhh, sorry to thread jack but ... if my external LCD monitor has a big blue line down the middle -- same problem -- but it was a cheapo no-english-manual foreign buy with no warranty ... I'm pretty much screwed and have to replace it, right?

(I keep trying to tell myself it's not there ...)

**** thing lasted me 2 years for $250 .. not bad but not great. Blegh.

Yeah probably it is the same thing. If you don't notice the line on your laptop, then generally there is something wrong with the external monitor or you might be lucky, and it could be the cord.

    aaaaaa

I did finally manage to get my LCD replaced last Friday and everything was perfect until few minutes ago when I turn my laptop on. I HAVE A YELLOW GLOW ALL OVER

THE SCREEN! and feel like crying right now ;) The color balance is messed up completely

I updated video drivers - nothing changed
Tried to adjust color manually - I can make it better but the freakin' yellow is visible all the time

what could happened? what can I do with this?
