    I am waiting on a Spring Green 1420 est. ship date of 9/18 (ordered on 8/12). If I configure the same laptop today, the est. ship date is 9/10? So, do I cancel the old order or hope that the original one ships earlier?

    talk to a rep before cancelling, maybe is a way to speed up your order without risking to delaying it more

    Not really, it's just a preliminary ship date, which stands for squat. My preliminary ship date was 2 weeks ahead of my actual estimated ship date, which was eventually delayed anyway. I wouldn't trust any of those dates. If you want it faster, get white/black/vostro.
