    Hi,

this may sound a completely stupid question but I'd like to know if it is actually possible to play for example HL2 on a 700m?

I know the 700m is really not designed for gaming especially because of it's integrated video chip. I'm looking at this notebook because I'm searching for an ultraportable and affordable notebook. I don't plan to do gaming with it but maybe on a long trip I may try to play a little bit HL2. Of course I understand HL2 will not be a tremendeous gaming experience on a 700m machine but I wonder if it is even possible to play such a game at all with the 700m. If it is possible, what kind of frame rate may I face if I set every graphic details to low?

    Thanks

PS: First I have been interested in an Inspiron 6000 (and I'm still hesitating) because this is a complete notebook solution. However for me a notebook is not aimed at gaming and the i6000 weight close to 7 pounds what is a lot for a device aimed at being portable so this is why I'm looking now for an ultraportable solution which makes much more sense to me. It's not a problem for me to not being able to run recent games with all details but I only like to be able to run them with lower details at an acceptable framerate for occasional use.

I've seen the Sims2 run on this notebook, so it can be all bad news, but without a dedicated video card option and shared memory it's going to be tough to get this game to play in any enjoyable type of fashion. I can't confirm if it would run or not, my hunch is yes but not very well.

Thanks for the input. Anyway the purpose of notebook is really not gaming in my opinion so it is not so much of a concern but it would have been nice if the 700m could be configured with a dedicated videocard.............just for boring times [ :D] However is the lack of dedicated video memory a problem for any other things than games?? I know people using 3D studio max may also require a dedicated videocard but is there any other fields where the 700m would have problem? I guess DVD playback shouldn't be a problem at all no? And what about web browsing, does some website require dedicated videocard to run correctly??? I've also seen that it's a must to have dedicated video memory when using an external monitor or beamer for presentation...is this true?
