Hi Friends,
I need help.
I am planing to buy External Monitor for my Inspiron 1720. I have never used external monitor with my laptop before. so is it good idea? i mean does it make any difference in speed. will i get same speed what i get with inbuilt laptop screen.
I have currently 1440X900 Resolution in my laptop will i able to use bigger resolution monitors?
I am interested in Dell SP2208WFP 22" WideScreen Flat Panel Monitor
I like to go with 22" inch screen so what do you think about the above model. or shall i go with other one. anyone here who using it.

Shouldn't be any issues using that monitor with your vostro 1700.l

i am having Inspiron 1720 not VOSTRO 1700

Whoops, my bad. But it will work.
Just make sure the monitor is vga like your laptop. -
Any monitor up to 24" (or was it 27", doesn't matter) with a VGA input will work with your laptop. Most new monitors use DVI, but they usually have both a DVI and a VGA connector. If not then just get a VGA/DVI converter which only costs a few bucks.
Yes you will be able to use a resolution greater than 1440x900. Any resolution up to 1920x1200 should be fine with your laptop. Of course if the monitor you purchase doesn't support that resolution then you won't go that high.
I currently use the Samsung 2232GW and it's and AMAZING monitor. Yes, the Samsung panel for some Dell laptops are REALLY troublesome, but Samsung still makes some of the best monitors in the industry. I think the Samsung 2253GW is a refresh of the 2232GW and is just as good. I've never used the Dell 22" so I can't comment on the quality. Maybe someone else has some inputs? -
i agree with you samsung makes the best monitors. but it's out of my budget.
i just checked. dell monitor details
it got VGA and DVI bothand it support 1680 x 1050 resolution. all other stuff are good too.
one last question. my laptop not having DVI it got VGA only does it make any difference in performance of monitor if i use via VGA to DVI converter? or should i use with VGA only. -
Converting analogue to digital is still ultimately the same quality as analogue. It doesn't magically make it better. Since your laptop only has vga you will have to stick with it.
