Hello Everyone, i'm sorry to post again. I seem to have ran into a problem, i partioned my C: drive. I now have a drive that is abougt 70 gigs, for games and data, although the problem is, I have 10 gigs of unalocated space, that I can not expand into my newly created data and games partition. Extend Partition is greyed out.

Here is a screenshot maybe it will help. thanks :)

Try GParted. I've had pretty good luck with it. It's free.

here are basic informations you can read to better understand the intricacies of Disk Partition.
    http://thestarman.pcministry.com/asm/mbr/PartTables.htm

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partition_(computing)

ok for the partitioning tool, you have the options of using some commercial like Acronis Disk Director or u can use freewares as bmwrob mentioned like gparted or download Ubuntu CD. All those softwares are bootable so just use a image burning software(if you downloaded it in ISO) like imgburn, which can be downloaded here http://www.imgburn.com/.

The only thing you needed to do to reclaim that 10gb of unallocated space is to delete that Extended Partition and merge it with the 10gb space. Save any file you have stored on the Extended Partition (EISA) since you will lose all of it when you delete it. After deleting you can then create another Extended partition and then decide on how many partition you wanna make under that extended partition. Lastly, just format to your preferred file system.

You can also try not to delete and choose to merge that 10 gb partition to the EISA partition. If you are able to merge it then just make the necessary partition you wish to make.

Thanks guys i'm still stuck though. I dont see a option to merge it with the 10gb. I cant merge them both unalcoated or even if I try and make a partition and then click extend that does not work. I'm going nuts not being able to do anything with this extra 10 gigs. Is there any software that's not bootable, and before I use any, do I need to put all the space from the partitions back on my c drive?

One other thing, what's the partiton in the screen shot that's 94mb? Is it safe to delete that?

One more thing please guys, I want to extend my data and game partition even more. When I shrink the volume of the C drive, by lets say 50 gigs, to add to my new partition, it wont let me extend it. I can extend it back to the C drive, but not my one partition. Having lots of trouble here. :(

You don't seem interested in the least with GParted, but here's a page anyway, which pretty much shows what's possible with the app.

Another freebie which some prefer over GParted.

You need a third part application to do this - just like the members above have stated. You cant do stuff like resize your C: in Windows alone.
