I need to decide on a laptop before I go to school in mid august. I can wait a little bit, like a couple of weeks into school to get it, so the new XPS M1330 is certainly an option. But, if possible I would really likr to get something before that so I can put my stuff on it like music and other things like Slingbox. Do I wait for the XPS or go for something else like the Sony SZ series. I really wanted the Lenovo X61 tablet but after I heard about the bezel problems I'm not quite sure. Do I look for another Lenovo? Thanks for any input you can give me.

If you've got time, go for the M1330. What do you need slingbox for? Isn't that a security camera program?

Slingbox is only THE best invention since the internet! jk...

Slingbox allows you to watch all your TV options on your notebook. You can actually control your DVR system from your computer... I'm gonna get it ASAP as well.

Does it require a monthly subscription? (nevermind- apparently not according to that link)

:O I'm falling more and more in love w/ it as I read it and it looks like its pretty affordable too

(I wonder if your tv turns on and the channel changes as it does on your pc screen- I'd imagine it would freak out the people in the room if it did)

One of my friends owns a restaurants and showed me his slingbox program. It was just the inside of his store, but you could watch it everywhere. Didn't realize it could do so much more. I think I might have to check it out.

Ya, that's actually how it is. That's kind of the down side. It's fine if you're single but if you have a family I can imagine it would be weird :S Still worth it though for sure...

Anyways....back on topic. If you are a very inpatient person like me, you should go with something that will arrive soon. Just look at the M1330 thread. Do you want to become one of them?

Personally, with the Sony's, my main concern is the HDD speed. Fastest I can find is 4200 RPM... My m1330 I ordered is 7200 RPM... But I haven't heard complaints about it being slow from those who have Vaio's...

Plus, the m1330 is so darn light, not to mention it's performance and options! Great features just the darn wait time is incredible!!! Grrrrrrr!

It's your call. You will be kicking yourself either way. You just have to decide which one hurts the least.

As you can see I speak before I think... Some Vaio's have the HDD speed above 4200 RPM but it's not common.

Their customize site part on sonysytle.com is not working so I can't see if you can upgrade to 7200 RPM but if you can I'm sure it's a big price difference from the intial price because lots start out at 4200 RPM.

    Hence the name (Tru3Blu3)!

    Go BYU!

Today's my first day of going through the m1330 wait and so far I don't see why I shouldn't just wait for it since it's THE notebook of the year already ;)

If you customize a Vaio then I think you should be fine but then there will be that eery feeling when you have a Vaio and you see a stylish m1330 and you know you could have it right then :(

DELL IS ABUSING THEIR POWERS!! BOOOOOOO!!

Go with the Dell. You don't wanna be sitting in class and see someone with the M1330 right next to you.
