    Hi all,

    I'm a new owner of an Inspiron 1720 with 1440x900 - TrueLife - screen.
As you probably kwon, I get first the bad Samsung LCD screen.
Then I asked for a replacmeent by Dell and get the AUO LCD screen after replacement which is not better. (Bad view angle, backlight problem etc..)

I'd like to know what is the serial number of the LG LCD because it is better than the 2 others as I read on forums.

I think it is LP171WX2 but not sure ?

    Thank for you help.

Ok,thank I hope it is,because the dell support doesn't know the serial number !
They say that they can't know the brand of LCD screen in stock.
I really hope it will be the good one.
The dell serial number seems to be UM606 ?

I'm waiting for their answer now because they advise me to keep my actual AUO screen...

What Dell advise and what you need are two completely different things.

If you want an LG screen, then they should be able to check their stock for you. If they won't it means that they are not intrested!

They may be getting confused as you have said serial number where as I think you ment part/model code.

They are not in the practice of letting you "cherry pick" your parts. Worst case scenario is that you will have to keep swapping until you get one that you like. Any of the screens can be exceptional . . . unfortunately there seems to be a fairly significant percentage of screens that suck.

Good luck! I stuck with my Samsung screen after hating the one that came with my first computer. Slight improvement in viewing angles, but a marked improvement in graininess. I can read text at the stock resolution now, so I decided that I better keep it!

If you still have the original LCD that came with the computer you could get the part number off it, that way you can have the exact same model that you had, if you dont have the original LCD I dont think there is nothing you can do about that...
