Please help me configure the best XPS 1530 I can get for my money! My budget is $1,250 (with tax included) - this is basically a $1500 configuration with the 25% off coupon. But, I'd like to spend as little as possible (maybe the $1250 configuration with the 20% off coupon?)

I've also read that the LED is really good but is it worth it? It's $200 just for the LED...

I'm choosing the XPS over the Thinkpad T61p because I've heard that XPS have much better screens than T61ps (which can be very dim/washed-out, especially compared to the LEDs)

Alright, configure it just like mine and apply the 25% off and it should be around $1314.75 + tax.. (My tax is only 4.167% that's why it is cheap.. Plus, i got another 5% off plus free shipping..)

But if you configure it with a T8300 instead of my T9300, (because you might not need all that power) then it would be $1221 + tax..

Those two prices are both with only 1 Year of limited warranty, but if you want 3 then it is more..

I got the LED and i would recommend it.. But if you dont get the LED LCD, and i would recommend the 1680x1050 resolution, and your total will be $1239.75 + tax..

You don't need the led. Better take the 8300 the 8600 and the wsxga lcd display.

So is the cheapest config. I can get from Dell.com with the 25% coupon? Or can I get it cheaper from EPP, student discounts, or whatever else is out there?

Also, I want 3gb ram but it's $50 more to upgrade from 2gb ram? Should I do that upgrade or would it be cheaper to get it aftermarket? (Note: the default 2gb takes up 2DIMM so I would need to get a 2gig stick aftermarket)

Go for the LED. If your on a budget shortage, get the WSXGA+.
