hey guys.... Im currently looking at buying a
    Sony Vaio PCG-K15
    Dell Inspiron 9100
    HP Pavillion zx5000

what do you guys think? Any specific reason why I sound NOT chose one of those? I mean they all have similar processors, HD's, Memory, screen sizes, Video cards(the vaio is a bit different) and such. I know the 9100 has a faster Bus speed, but Im not doing any hardcore gaming, and dont think I will notice a difference.

I guess Im just looking for some opinions.

    Thanks!!

    Bobby

sorry, forgot to tell my uses.

I will mostly be doing school work, which requires often using multiple decent sized engineering and cad type programs at the same time. I need something that is relatively easy on the eyes, due to the fact that Ill be staring at it all day.

Also, I will be using it to work with flash programs such as Flash MX and will be using Cool Edit Pro often on it to manipulate and mix audio.

I really dont need super battery life, but it definately dosent hurt. Truthfully, I need something that will be VERY dependable, as all of my research will be done on it.

    Thanks for your replies guys

I am not exactly an expert on this topic, but I have been looking at the Acer brand. I like the Travelmate 290, Travelmate 2500, and Aspire 2000. Their prices are pretty good, and they are a good quality brand.

I think your best bang for the buck is with the 9100, with coupon codes available you can get some sweet deals for a great spec notebook. However, I find the 9100 to rather large at 9lbs and if you're a college student you might want to consider the fact you'll want some mobility. The Sony is lighter at 7.3 lbs and not sure on the zx5000 weight but it's definitely lighter. Between the sony and the hp i'd go with the zx5000. If you think you can deal with the large size of the 9100 though then I'd say go with that.

I would also suggest Acer. Also, I highly recommend Fujitsu as they have excellent quality and support.

Thanks guys.... Yea, Ive been Looking... and looking... and Ive really narowed it down to the zx5000 or the 9100. The big thing against the 9100 is the size and weight, being that I WILL be lugging it round.

Say, can someone tell me the dfference between these processors:
    P-4 2.8GHz with Hyper Threading
    MOBILE P-4 2.8GHz

I mean really, the HP isnt much lighter supposedly (8 lbs vs the 9100's 8.5 lbs), and all of the major componants are very compareable.. price difference for the models Im lookin at is less than $50...

Are there any quality, durability, speed, temperature, longevity or customer service issues I should watch out for with either company?
