    Hi all,

Can you please help me with my specs below? I am getting this system for $819 (before taxes). I am not sure if the specs will properly meet my needs to do the following:

    - general Internet use
    - general MS Office use
    - some lite web development (PHP/HTML/Photoshop) but nothing super taxing or heavy
    - no gaming (I have a PS3 and I'd rather play off my big screen TV)
    - video editing & transferring of home video from HD camera

A few elements are adding up the price such as using the Design Studio color that adds $75 and this is a must since my wife picked it out.

Major questions I do have are:

    - is the x4500 Intel video enough for HD video transfer & editing (I do have 4GB ram to compensate)
    - is the facial recognition software something that works as expected or is too quirky to bother with?
    - am i not future proofing my system enough by going with the T6600 Intel CPU? Is it worth the $125 upgrade to the T8400 or above? I heard its not going to be THAT much of a difference so I should leave it as the CPU I have for what I'm doing... please help on this!

Thanks for the feedback, here are my specs:

That looks like a pretty solid build. I have a Studio 15 as well, but except for the graphics card (I have the Mobility Radeon HD 3450), your specs are all better than mine.

Integrated graphics should be fine for basic video editing, so unless you're making CGI movies from scratch you should be set. Of course, the Radeon 3450 is a nice upgrade if you can afford it. If you ever plan on using HDMI from the notebook, I've heard that the integrated graphics doesn't allow sound via HDMI, but the Radeon card does.

Don't worry about the processor, I only have a T5750 at 2.0GHz, and it performs just fine, and even handles some decent gaming.

For the uses you mentioned, though, the specs you have are already quite good. I think you'll be just fine.
