So I just got done "chatting" with a dell XPS rep for over an hour and a half. He was telling me that the m1210 is not good for gaming. Is this true? I want this computer so bad because of its size and the price fits perfectly in my budget. In saying this, I know that the m1210 is not specifically a gaming computer but are you able to play games like 1701 A.D. and the Civilization series on it?

If you have a m1210 and play games, on top of telling me what you think about this computer as a gaming computer, can you also share with me the games you play on it?

Thank you so much! I will be purchasing my computer in the next few days and all of your help will be substantial in my buying the right computer!

I was pleasantly surprised with mine. I have played Doom 3 Fear Quake4 you may have to lower some of the settings but it will play them and look good. Honestly I love my little 1210. It has XP Pro on it not Vista. I have Vista to install but Vista is a little strange still. I just got an XPS 1710 with Vista but have not had time to mess with it yet. One thing I would recommend is get the 2.16 or higher GHz. and 2GB RAM. You have to love the size it is so easy to get around the house with. Also it is not a gaiming power house but for both work and play it is just right. If you only want games get a 1710 or a 1705. I have a 1705 that runs any games I throw at it. Since I have a 1710 and 1210 I am selling the 1705. But it was a little slow until I put a 7900 GS in it.

You will have no problem running games like 1701 A.D. and Civilization on it. I was playing Civilization on mine last night. Strategy games like that it shouldn't have much problem running most with a Go 7400. I don't try and play fps games on a 12.1" LCD so I can't comment there.

You can play practically all games @ 800x600.

    Some games a little higher.

Most RTS games will run well. Largely because you don’t need a very high frame rate, and because the rate of world detail change is comparatively lower in RTS games.

thank you soooo much! You have no idea how much this has helped me in deciding which computer to buy!

However, I can't afford 2.16 GHz or higher...hope thats not too much of a problem!
