I am, as I type, connected to a CSR who is telling me they cannot sell me a vostro unless I own a business? Is this true?

I asked a similar question in another thread regarding buying a D630. It seems you can buy one, but you won't be covered by consumer rights, certainly in the UK anyway.

It's certainly making me wary of Dell.

I plan on ordering a Vostro and I find that hard to believe. There are many people on this forum that own Vostro's and I doubt all of them have businesses. You likely have to have a tax ID number to get tax off, but that shouldn't matter for just buying one.

Thats what I thought -- I want some custom specs, so I have to go through the phone: vista premium, sound card, remote.

In the UK, under Dell's terms and conditions, you do not have the right to a 7 day 'cooling off' period if you buy a business laptop.

I hate the way they dictate what catagory your laptop falls in. I want a latitude, but I don't have a business and I want to buy as a consumer!

you don't have to buy from the phone to get custom specs...
