I'm close to pulling the trigger on a Studio 17 and would like opinions on two options:

    1) T8100 w/regular screen or

    2) T5850 w/LED screen

they both price out the same with equal ram. Which config should I get?

    Thanks everyone...

well......as always it depends on the purpose of the laptop as well as your preference.....do you prefer a much nicer screen with a slightly weaker processor (probably should be your choice if you are doing highly cpu intensive work on the lappy).....most likely not.....the difference in processor is minute to the point that you may not notice if you are a typical user.

Yes, I prefer a good bright screen. How is your Led?

Hmmm thats a tough one....I went for the first option and i don't regret it. Trust me, the regular screen is also pretty good to look at......So the same thing cud be said for the screen thats said about the processor, for the typical user (as in you may not notice the difference).

Then again, for me anything is an improvement visually cuz I've been staring at the same 17" CRT screen that came standard with my desktop from dell for 5 yrs.

I would probably go for the better screen. The extra resolution and quality can really make a difference. Unless you are going to be ripping all day long or playing games, you probably wouldn't benefit much from the better processor.
