I've had a Dell 1505 for a couple months now.
When I close the lid, the laptop goes to standby which is good.
But when I have an Excel file open that resides on my jump drive, the laptop does NOT go into standby and gives me the following message...
"Windows cannot go on standby because Microsoft Office documents or application components are being accessed from the network. You must close the open documents or exit the applications before you can put the computer on standby."
This ONLY happens with Excel. If I have an Access or WOrd file open (from the jumpdrive), the laptop goes to standby as expected.
Can I do anything about this? I don't want to have to shut down my Excel files everytime I want to go to standby.
Thanks in advance!

lol thats so funny because I had the same problem with my flash drive and e1505.Basically if you are trying to get it to standby with the jumpdrive, don't close the lid straight away. Have the lid at less than 40 degrees and by now it will slowly start to standby because it wasn't built to standby with a flashdrive.

But what makes it confusing is that the laptop DOES standby using Access or Word from a jumpdrive but it does NOT with Excel.
Does that make any sense? -
It's probably just a glitch in the software. It is Microsoft lol -
I have a Dell 640m and I use a cordless mouse with a USB receiver. I set my system not to wake up from standby from a USB device. You can do this by entering the setup page (F2 key) during boot up. Look for the power management settings. This is where you can set your system not to wake up from a USB device. This may correct the issue you are having with your USB drive affecting standby on your pc.
Hope this helps you out!
