What do you guys think about this for the 1520? Is this overkill? I will be using it for media purposes as well as some gaming but not too much. I am in the military and will take it with me on deployments. I wont be moving around much when I get to where I'm going but I would also like to use it for possibly hooking up my PS2 via TV Turner. Is this possible? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Look for identical setup in dell outlet. Make sure to add complete care to it. I would personally also grab a nice compact ruck that has space for a lappy too. GL.
-
Thanks. I did not even think about looking there. I will have to take a look. I don't suppose anyone knows about the Tv tuner question?
-
I would personally go for Slingbox instead of tv tuner.
-
Google tv tuner and ps2, I think you'll get some pointers from the posts in various forums.

The harddrive might be a bit overkill. You'd get a better Gb/$ ratio if you take a smaller one and replace it yourself afterwards or use an external hdd instead.
Otherwise i think you have chosen a nice setup that should last you some years. -
Thanks for the info. I will be getting a slingbox sometime soon as well. I would like to know some oppinions on the screen it self. I would like to get something that visually is nice and bright. I have a 5150 right now and it has a matte screen finish with an ok look. I am hoping to get something a little more clearer

since u might go on deployment, i would recommend a matte screen, because the glossies are horrible in outdoor/bright conditions (i need full brightness in school under the flourecent lights).
also, if you are gonna be rough with it, the silver on the inspiron does scrape off...
for me, the parts that have scraped off are (when closed) the back of the hinges (scrap against bag). It seems, however, the silver on the piece of plastic around the keyboard extending to the media buttons is very sturdy.
If you are concerned, i would go with the vosotro (also has spill proof keyboard)
the sound card will stick out
thats all i have to say
Please take a look at these 1520 Specs
