Plum Purple Pics?

I'm just wondering if anybody here has some pics of a plum purple studio that I could look at? I saw one in a previous thread but the colors I'm sure were off as the lighting and resolution of the pics weren't so great. Thanks a bunch for your time.


Also, I noticed that a laptop deal for the Studio 15 $799 has disappeared...anybody know if there's a chance a deal like this could show up again? Thanks again.

Ohhhh. That would be hard for me..I think if I had the choice in the S15..I would be torn bet. the Tangerine Orange and the Plum Purple!~

My camera is 3.2 Mega Pixels so yeah it sucks. I took one without the flash and realized that the flash was seriously needed.

I'm glad they didn't come out too bad. I may take one or two more in the sunlight so I won't have to use the flash. It was around evening when I took those.

I love the purple, but I'm also just a little disappointed because it was a lot darker than I anticipated the color would be. If it were just a few degrees lighter, it would be perfect!

 

I had to work on one of these the other day. It took me 10 minutes to find the power button haha.

Didn't know it was on the side.

 

It's easy to miss, but I think the power button on the side makes the keyboard look a lot cleaner on top.

Here's a few more pics taken today without flash in the sunlight. I promise no more pictures after this. It's like I just gave birth to a baby and I'm shoving their picture in everyone's face. lol





It's interesting how light appears in the pictures. It's much darker than that.

 

Great pics, that was one of my color choices but I don't want to get weird stares(guy with a plum color laptop)

 

I always thought purple was one of those neutral colors that men can sport without getting strange looks. Now if it was pink, I'm sure you'd get a lot of raised eyebrows from people.

 

Prior to buying my Plum Purple Studio, I looked at the pics on here and on the Dell site but I have to say I was a bit surprised with the color of the actual laptop. The pics online seem to be too light/bright, or very purple and didn't show the reddish tint. I did my best to take pics of mine in order to show the real color, but it often appears lighter than it really is. Here are a few of mine.

The first one in the window, in plain sunlight is about as light as the color gets. In other parts of my house, it looks really dark (like the edges in the 2nd and 4th pictures).

wow the purple is beautiful.

i wish more of the models came with this colour.

I personally like expresso brown, plum purple and would like a nicer pink and a sage. I might have to paint something that shade of purple

 

I had a Plum Purple Studio 17 earlier this year, and, unfortunately, it had a screen issue - so Dell allowed me to return it. BUT, the color itself was very nice. Also unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of it to share...

But, I can add that I was initially a little nerveous about, well, getting a purple laptop. Fortunately, it doesn't look OMG PURPLE! at all.

It's IMO a pretty "classy" / stylish color. I think, had I had it long enough to actually take it into work, that it would have gotten several positive comments - as opposed to - "Dude... So, you decided to get a purple Dell - how, er, intersting".

 

I was actually hoping it would be a little brighter and a bit more OMG. I was a bit disappointed at how dark it was (in my place it looks almost brown/black in how dark it is since there isn't any direct light). But in full lights it is definitely pretty sweet. My purple one is completely messed up (loose battery, BSODs on a daily basis, blank screens randomly, crazy lag, etc) so I'm sending it back tomorrow. I already have another on its way and this time I opted for the Spring Green though I will miss this purple color!

p.s. I like your profile pic, I have two italian greyhounds and love the breed!

 

Too funny, as soon as I posted that, I immediately wondered about people actually wanting more of an "OMG Purple!" In which case my recommendation / assurance was pretty much the exact opposite of what might have been hoped. Oops.

And, no matter which kind of purple you might want - I too highly recommend Italian Greyhounds (that's "Baxter" in my pic).

hi can you tell me exactly which one is the exact tone of the plum purple when we see though our eyes, was that purplish liek ur second post or is it a mix of copper like brownish maroon like purple...

I actually don't think the video really shows the true color (at least not the color of mine, in the light I have in my house). The one in the video is so dusty it looks matte and doesn't show the reddish tones. Probably has to do with the lighting in their film studio.

Just purchased a Plum Purple for my wife and she loves it! I had her go to Best Buy to see it in person before I placed the custom order on-line with Dell.

The reason everyone is having difficulty capturing the true color is that Purple shade changes under different angles and light conditions ... somewhat like new metallic paint on automobiles.

 

yea thats cool, but the problem here is i normally dont go out for shopping that to too far am travel sick a bit, and i dont think they sell dell laptops near my area even if it dose they might have only the standard black or orange or red.

anyways...thanx for the reply i already owned a jet black as i couldnt find the exact shades of other colours as we all knows black is always black i choose black!! lol

but then i have returned it in 2 weeks as it had some issues.

now i am about to place a new order again but stuck between 2 colours plum or midnight blue i always like something dark when it comes to laptop.

if the plum is going to be reddish then i'll drop it, now am wondering about midnight blue, just want to make sure it has the flower like design near the fingerprint area, am not sure it is avilable in uk, so i have posted request on a thread.

by the way here is the pic if you or anyone you knwo owns a 17 studio midnight blue can you check whether it has got the flower like design on the finger print area if its a sticker then ill go for the black again and buy the sticker instead

 

Claudya84, I think I can help you with your color choice...since my wife has the Plum Purple, I ordered the Midnight Blue and they are both great colors.

Both have the color changing shades from certain angles - I have attached photos of both.
Neither one came with the flower design near the finger print area - in fact the old topo line / spilled milk design has been dropped on all models since December.
Hope this helps with your choice of color.

If you like dark colors, I bet you will like the plum purple. Like faltsix said, the color changes in different light. The reddish/plum tones come through but not always, and not in a bad way. If you look at the pics I posted, you will see the extent of the reddish tones which in my opinion was the worst part of the color and frankly those tones didn't come through all that often (again, only in certain light) and overall the color was nice.

 

Both of them are plain - no flower design is available.
I think the plain gray design is an improvement over the old topographic map line design...

What color have you selected - Purple or Blue?

 

i really liked the purple when i saw this picutre....but option for midnight blue is cos i always like something in blue and its more of dark kinda black like ..and also for the floral design as i noticed only the midnight blue had the floral design on webpages...

if its going to be like this..i mean the floral oned is a sticker i would rather go for black and buy the sticker...

i like purple but not the reddish copper like tone which i hate the most

Finally decided on the colour, its Jet Black for past 2 months i was jumping from midnight blue to plum purple and now decided on Jet Black, black is always black no confusions

i just recived my studio 17 jet black today, and you know what the white lines like milk strain is still there haha...i dotn know why dell really like that white lines for??

it would be nice if they leave it plain or have the floral design instead

 

Interesting - Dell USA has only been shipping the Studio with the plain Grey trim.

ya ya...its awsome, love it every time i use it, and everytime i use it i am using it as i got it just today

 

I received my 1737 in the last week of November (in canada) and it does have those squigly lines as well. Don't think they are very cool, but it doesn't really matter much to me.
