Poll: Did your Dell ship early?

Did your dell ship before the estimated shipping date?
Do they send you an email the same day it ships, before, or after?
Also, feel free to post how long the shipping period was (estimated shipping date - order date) and how early or late it shipped.

 

I just checked their automated number which i can't remember atm. I checked it like 2-3 times a day , usually during my breaks

 

when it (my 1520) comes to my house either tomorrow or wednesday, it will have been one whole week from when i ordered to when i receive it. pretty awesome! my estimated ship date was aug 16th

 

I ordered mine on July 16, how are you getting yours so quick? My estimated ship date was Aug 2nd and mines still says "In Production".

 

There should be an option in the poll for people who cancelled there order(s) while patiently waiting for any signs of life in status updates.

 

i dont know how or why i'm getting it so early, i didnt call and complain or anything, i just looked at my email yesterday and i received an email saying that my laptop shipped. I was so surprised i could hardly believe it.... this is my first dell and so far they're making a good first impression...

 

I odered mine on July 6th, and was shceduled to ship Aug. 2nd.
It shipped on the 21st and should have arived on the 25th(3-5 day shipping)
I actually got it on the 23rd.

So far I can confirm the grainy screen (which I can live with), the high pitched noise (which is freaken annoying and comes from the laptop itself as well a the head phone jack). I would probably keep it b/c there's no way I could find another laptop with the same price for a thousand $$. Also, anyone find a cure for the noise besides using usb headphones?

 

My Dell laptop was shipped about 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

I guess it could have to do with the different configurations we have. I have a different processor, screen, color and wireless card =/

 

my ship date is july 30th, but it has been in the guild stage for over 2 weeks...

 

I ordered the one in my sig july 6th, first est. ship was august 6th, then it was delayed and its now august 16th. Even your est. ship is sooner than my first one.

 

My M1210 was shipped on 7/6/2007 and got it on 7/9/2007

 

So do they send you an email the day the computer ships?

 

Ordered my 1420 on Friday the 13th and it had a est delivery date of 8/3, but I recieved it on the 18th of July.

 

I heard usually cases of delay of the Inspirons are caused by the colored lids. Perhaps if you ask around what colors people ordered and if they are receiving it early/late we can find out.

Edit: Forgot to tell you what the sales rep told me earlier today. He said black, brown, white, yellow won't take long, but the other colors may delay your orders.

my 1420 shipped by about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. was ordered 7/6, shipped 7/11 got it 7/13. originally was slated for 7/27 shipment. the day it shipped i did receive an email from Dell stating it was shipped. however, i signed up for that notification within my Dell account.

Hmm yeah, but seems different countries have slightly different color shortages..

They probably only figured to put up the notice about the shortage after many complaints about delays..

 

I called and they said that there was an industry-wide LCD shortage, which is why it is taking so long.

 

Ahhhhh....it's becomming all clear to me now! My flamingo pink is what is holding up the show! I just checked their site and now it says for colors flamingo pink, blue, green and yellow the hold up time is an additional 7 days. I definatly did not get than on 7/8 when I placed my order, I may have considered another color option had I have had a clue.

So.....my first scheduled ship date was on 7/19 now it is supposed to be on 7/26 and as of today 7/24 is still in the build stage...I highly doubt my unit will ship on the 26th and I can see ANOTHER delay....: *crying now*

Delays don't usually bother me...however my current lappy is ON ITS LAST LEGS LITTERALLY AND ONLY WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO! I am off to pray to the computer delivery gods that my unit will ship on 7/26!

 

Black, Brown, Red appear to be the least popular colors for some reason.

Or at least less popular than they predicted - maybe they stocked extra black and red because the figured they would be the most popular. Who knows.

Curse all of you fellow blue-lid orderers. Mine is supposed to ship tomorrow. (fingers crossed)
