Dell is so large, it has several branches of laptops. Which is your favorite series of Dell laptops. I prefer the Dell Latitude series.

I like the Inspiron line because at the bottom of it you can purchase a laptop that lasts almost 8hours but when you build up an e1705/9400 you have an amazing gaming notebook for an affordable price.

XPS, no question. Higher quality than the Inspirons, they have better graphics cards than the Latitudes, and they look better than both.

I think this poll is very subjective because it depends on what you like about dell's various lines of notebooks. If you like cheap notebooks with good battery life your going to like the inspiron line and if you like high end gaming and quality, you like the xps line, etc.

Precision laptops are extremely good.I like them, even though I will not buy one [the main reason is me not wanting my back snap in two]

I voted XPS, just because of the higher build quality. Just can't afford them. That's why I ordered an Inspiron. Latitude series are also made quite well, but find them a bit boring in design and more costly than the Inspiron series.

I voted for the Inspiron. They have a good price point (especially after the coupons) and they can be very good for gaming if done right. The XPS just is a bit much for my blood. Sorry.

have anyone ever compared a precision to an xps? are both build qualities similar? Ive owned a precision and it's pretty decent.

Also are the business support similar to the xps support package? Can't wait til their new precision line up comes out. Hopefully a 15" with a decent GPU for a change.

Precision, because I have owned all four and it has lasted the longest even with a mod the brought it far and beyond the original heat and power draw design specifications that it was originally made for.

    I voted for the Latitudes:

    better build quality then XPS/Inspiron
    No BS Multimedia options
    No Apple-1394 :p (D620)
    Modulair bay
I like the looks; black/grey instead of white from the Inspirons
    Options like trackpoint, IrDa, Dockinstation
    High resolution displays

So once again, I agree with Homer_Jay_Thompson :D

iam surprised xps is so high when getting a 9300, 9400 is much cheaper to buy and mod one to xps status the only thing you;ll be missing is all the fancy lights.

Own an XPS 1210 right now, love it.

    G/f has a Latitude.

Precisions have been around the house before.

I owned an I8000 before, and taking that thing to school was insane. Either my shoulders hurt from luigging it around all day or my back hurt from putting it in my backpack. It's worked well though, and lasted a long time, so I would buy Inspiron again if they made something that I liked.
    ------------------------------------------------
Picked XPS. Have used all 4 lines, and currently, the XPS line fits my needs best with the 1210. It's great to have a light notebook for work/class that can still play a game or two when I get bored.

Prefer Latitudes, they're built better than Inspirons and I actually prefer the black/silver look to that cheesey white/silver of the Inspirons.

Precision M65 is basically a souped up Latitude D820, whereas the Precision M90 looks more like one of the original XPSs? Basically an Inspiron shell painted black.

Its funny how the Inspiron 1300 was better built that other Inspirons because it's also the Latitude 120L, but the Latitude 131L is just a normal Inspiron 1505 painted black.

Though I've never used a Precision or XPS so I can't really comment.

That'd be me - I'm amazed that you can get those specs on an Inspiron 9400 (with a Go 7900GS, no less!) for the price that you can (cheaper than an Asus G1, and par with an HP dv9000). I'd be paying several hundred CHF more for an XPS with the same specs.

I like the Latitude a lot. If the D830 would get a discrete graphic card, I would probably buy it right away. I like the way the Latitude looks and how it combines good specs with a durable build.

I'm becoming a big fan of the Inspiron series, my friend got a very nice 1505 right before they were released the 20 series and i just bought a 1720 with very similar spec for less than him, yea, I'm feeling pretty happy with them right now, money was definably a factor :D

    Inspiron 710m................1/15/2006

I went with Precision because I really like the M65. But I also like the X300. Got the M65 from Dell Outlet and the X300 from Dell Financial Services, as I've said repeatedly. If it's a good deal, has no hardware issues and is solidly built, I'm happy. The e1705, my first Dell laptop, wasn't bad either, but it became obvious that 1440x900 in a 17" wasn't a good fit, so I sold it.
