On the Dell.com Website, under " Product Safety, EMC and Environmental Datasheets" there are two new models listed under the Inspiron categories. They are the Inspiron 1425 FT01 and FT02. If you select one of them in the drag-down menu, you can download the PDF with the datasheets. They must have been posted very recently, because the "Effective Date" in the sheet is stated as November 18, 2008.
What is interesting is that the product dimensions are stated as 24.6 cm depth x 33.75 cm width x 3.68 - 3.97 cm height, weighing 2.39 kg. The same datasheet for the Inspiron 1420 gives 25.8 cm x 33.4 x 4.2 cm, weighing 2.5 kg. So all around the 1425 is generally slimmer and lighter than the 1420, just like the 1525 was compared to the 1520!
Hopefully, if this is what I am thinking it is, Dell will have this machine out by Black Friday, or at least by Christmas. If this is similar to the 1525, with a 14.1" screen, then this is exactly the laptop I am looking for!

Usually when those things start appearing on Dell's site..it's a good thing!
I just checked...and when I see things on Dell's site..I consider it legit
I don't rely on other's posted & *supposed* *alleged information*.
Unless there is a *definitive & trustworthy source*!
As, it just get's everyone to worked up
Now you just have to be patient and wait on Dell, and hopefully soon there will be further information!

Yes, I agree Cin'. I don't usually believe rumors, but this is from Dell.com's own Website. Let's hope it's not a typo!
-
Exactly!
....I agree, and like I said it's from Dell's website...which gives more 100% truthwise info vs. the *non factual*
Yes, hopefully it's not a typo

Old picture too. -
Hmm....
I was able to get into the "Product Safety, EMC and Environmental Datasheets* for it...Oh well. Don't know if it's a moot point now.

Aren't both those datasheets the same?
both have same reference number and are word for word the same except for the "regulatory model" number.
Unless I'm missing something??? -
They are almost identical except for the effective date, dimensions, and model number, which leads us to believe it's a separate, new model. If you check the 1525 datasheet, it's almost identical too. It's just a generic datasheet.
-
Reference numbers and the dates are the same....from what I can see

Are you comparing the datasheets for the FT01 and FT02 models? Yes they seem to be the same. But compared to the 1420, they are very different...
-
I came across that the other day.
Too bad there's no pictures of the laptop yet

I guess it is good to see that they are at least pumping something out even if they aren't the notebooks most of us are looking for.

Yay! I'm famous! Sort of...
They say it only lasts 15 minutes, right? Does that mean I get a rep upgrade on NBR?
-
Just read this over at engadget. I will give you a rep bonus. I have power
edit: i put you on "a distinguished road" -
Looks like you lasted more than 15 LOL
Nice! +1

Congrats! I got on Engadget once, it is pretty neat.
-
Hmm, I wonder what these could be like?
-
It will be like the 1520 vs the 1525. Thinner and no graphics card.
Possible Leak on Dell.com - Inspiron 1425!
