Hey guys. Just a quick question..

I have a Studio 1735 with 2 X 250GB HDD's... but this is not enough for me. Is it possible to upgrade them to 500GB HDD's each or even 2 x 1TB drives?
If so what type of hard drive do I need and can you provide links?

This would be great as I do not want another external HDD & plus I need to reinstall Vista...too much crap on my laptop now and it frequently hangs / freezes / slow boot load etc

    Many thanks.

The largest 2.5" 9.5mm notebook hard drive currently is 500GB, and yes, you can definitely put two of these 500GB drives in there. Out of curiosity, what are you doing that takes up more than 500GB total?

Fair enough. My desktop's 320GB is running out pretty fast as well.

Now that I think about it, I thought I read somewhere that Seagate has a 640GB 2.5" 9.5mm hard drive as well, but I'm not sure. I know there also exists a 2.5" 1TB hard drive, but it's 12.7mm and will not fit.

:O Only 320 lol... I would need 2TB on my desktop as a minimum...well an SSD as drive 1 etc... I think 500GB x 2 on my machine would work well for me but would quickly fill up...1tb would be even better but as you said size wise it wouldn't work.

    Oh & its a SATA so I will buy 2 X 500GB

    thnx

If it's just movies etc that you are filling up the space, why not have an external HDD?

I think the largest HDDs I've seen that would fit in that machine are as Mastershroom has already said.

I've got 2 Externals...& I can't carry them around all the time etc + then it is a hassle to connect them up all the time :) and blu ray's take up a lot of space ^^

Sure, but you don't watch all your movies at the same time do you ;) Those olds ones, that you've not watched in ages and probably not going to, why couldn't you just put them on a big HDD that you leave at home?

I guess it just doesn't make much sense to me. I have maybe 500 DVDs at home, but when going to a friends house, I might bring maybe 4 or 5 to chose from. It's not the end of the world if I don't bring all 500 of them :)

True lol...but I like having everything in easy reach / access and having a wide choice of things to watch. I have many TV Series on my laptop too like Family guy / Simpsons and it's nice to have that variety that you can take with you and watch on the big screen via hdmi

OK, the largest drive you can get is a 500GB drive. Recently, Western Digital announced a 1TB 2.5" HDD, but it's too big for your laptop - but for your information here is the information on that piece of news.

I've heard good things about the Western Digital Scorpio drives, and after a quick search this was the best price I could find. You can probably find cheaper - I only did a quick search of the four companies I tend to use

    Hope that helps.

Wow, only 320gb on a desktop! Man, I have over 1.4tb on my desktop, 1.4tb in my server, 577gb on my HTPC and 222gb in my Studio and I'm still running lower on space than I'd like!
