Yo nais, what is this all about? Does the m1530 also have faulty firewire ports?

Hi, I am not sure. The thread here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=73829 apparently deals mostly with a specific problem with a high end firewire audio card. Please check out the thread if you have any problems. And, if you have a problem, you can also check out the solution in the thread I linked to in the beginning. Don't worry until you have a problem, lol!

I won't read a two year old thread with over 50 pages just out of curiosity, sorry ;)

I don't have a m1530 but planning to buy one and since I need firewire for my work (dv capture) and somewhere was stated this firewire problem (what problem exactly?) concerns every c2duo laptop from dell I asked if the m1530 does have any problems with it too?

My apologies but I don't have any more information about the big thread except that the last post was saying that it is mainly about some high end audio firewire card. However, I know from skimming the first few pages that there was some talk of camcorder connection problems. I don't know what they might have done differently with the 1530 and perhaps you can put a general thread out asking if anyone has had a firewire problem with the 1530. If you need the firewire port for work I would suggest you at least start reading the first few pages of the large thread to get a better idea of what it is all about.

I have an M1530 and attached my Canon Optura60 without any problems whatsoever. It was recognized and a popup appeared asking me whether I wanted to capture video from it. I didn't try to capture anything yet as I used my desktop for capturing. One thing i noticed though is that there is no icon on "My Computer" not unlike my desktop which displays an icon whenever my Optura is connected. It shows on the device manager though.
