Hello,
I am aware this is Notebook review but I figure Dell is Dell and it could apply to all Dell branded products.
I ordered a Dell PC 2 weeks ago. It has been 'In Production' for 2 weeks now. I phoned CS today and I was transferred a total 8 times due to no one being able to match my Name with my order number. I finally get through and they tell me that a part was on back order (i never received any emails about this and no notification on my confirmed order page before I checked out).
Also throughout this whole waiting period I found better deals for a PC AND much better barebone PC kits for a cheaper price. I tried cancelling about 1 day after I ordered and all the CSR's refused to cancel it ('In Production' excuse)
Is it possible to go through the return process once it arrives and just send it back no questions asked? Essentially sending back an unopened delivered Dell product.

That restocking fee seems like it will apply. Thats just bs.

I don't see why not. I can't say for sure, but I imagine it is possible. Restocking and shipping fees will be on you, though. Like any company nowadays, they will try to scam you out of money in any way possible, thus not being able to cancel. It's a shame that it has to be that way, really, but I think that's a bigger discussion.
Sucks about the call runaround, but I've experienced that from several major companies. Do you know what your expected delivery date is? The average production time with Dell systems is indeed 2 weeks. -
The final CSR told me the shipping date could be Tuesday. I ordered on the 13th. I got the Inspiron 545 w/ Q9400, Vista Premium (for Windows 7 upgrade) and a 3 year warranty (less stress for family).
15% restocking fee would be $100! There must be a way to complain and get that waived.
Might as well keep the damn thing. That extended warranty however looks like it could be the exact opposite that I intended it to be -
I really doubt you will get a refund on the warranty either. I had a system stolen and was unable to transfer my warranty to my new laptop. -
I would say look for the substatus and what was promised date. If it is in production for so long and so on dont worry, status might not have been updated. All you need to worry is if they dont send it to you by expected date or if they keep postponing the updated date.
Since it is not yet shipped and if it has already passed your expected date, then you can call their cancellation line and cancel, since as long as the system is not in shipped state, it will not have an invoice and your credit card is not yet charged. -
To get to the cancellation/change department
Call - 18002472076
Option 2 if you ordered online.
Thats it they will cancel it ..
If you really dont want it .. do it, dont wait for it to be shipped and then for spite send it back, you will be at a loss then. Also make sure you confirm that you are getting back your full refund.
Possible to return a PC just because of poor CS?
