Just got my son the XPS 1530 for graduation and we were more concerned with the wireless NIC(went with the Intel 4965) since we are completely wireless at home. His college indicates the dorms have varying levels of wireless reception but all have ethernet ports.
I know there is an ethernet port on the 1530 but does it automatically come with an ethernet NIC and/or how do we find out if it has one? I hope this isn't a dumb question but remember there are no dumb questions only dumb people.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there would be no problem with it working. My Dell works just fine in ethernet situations.

All comps come with an ethernet port

The XPS M1530 comes with a Ethernet NIC. All your son will have to do is plug the cable in provided the NIC has not been disabled.

Thanks for all of the quick responses.
