I have started this thread so members can share and input their settings on the gamma, brightness, contrast, temperature and other settings for DELL notebooks.

So in the "end", we can figure out the BEST CALIBRATED settings for each Dell Model or at the very least according to the model of the LCD display. Make your settings compatible with the highest brightness setting meaning Fn + arrow up.

You can use a tool such as Powerstrip to change the more complex color settings. or as a free alternative use, RivaTuner

    Okay, here goes:

I have an Inspiron 6000, with matte, no glossy screen.

    ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300

    My settings are as follows:

    Gamma: 1.05
    Brightness: -50%
    Contrast: -50%
    Temperature: 5800k

    Whats yours? :)

IMO, this idea might not work for eveybody as the end result is quite subjective, not to mention the physical hardware itself. BTW, I have the same hardware, XPS m1530, LG 1440 x 900, using Nvidia Control Panel. After using the value stated above, I feel that the colour saturation is just too much for me.

    Brightness ........ 50%
    Digital Vibrance .. 11%
    Contrast .......... 40%
    Gamma Blue ........ 35%
(Default color was too bluish for my taste)

Note: after lowering the blue to 35%,
the all channels gamma is set to 45% automatically.

Here's a question: Are you guys able to maintain these settings all the time?

In this thread, Link , I made some posts about adjusting the visual settings of my CMO LED display. The problem was that every time the screen would turn off(reboots, shutdown, sleep, hibernate, or even just a idle turn off), the settings would not be visible. When I check the Nvidia control panel, the settings are still how I set them to, but it is not reflected in the image. Only after I just click on one of the sliders that my display image quality updates. It is EXTREMELY annoying to have to open the Nvidia control panel and click on a slider every single time my display turns off for any reason.

I would really like your input because I found that my results after tweaking the settings made my CMO image quality immensely superior than factory defaults.

    As for my settings:
    Brightness - 50%
    Digital Vibrance - 41%
    Contrast - 57%
    Gamma - 25%

The CMO backlit display on the m330 is very bright, but suffers from somewhat pale colors. With these settings, it now has much richer colors, with deep blacks. Now if only I could keep these settings at all times.

I use Powerstrip, and it says my settings as profiles and works every time at startup.

try RivaTuner as a free alternative.

With my 1520 and it's few screens the best settings are as followed. (Calibrated with special equipment for best accuracy - mind you a laptop display will never be 100%. As they are built for power consumption.)

    AOU screen:
    Brightness - 50%
    Digital Vibrance - 0%
    Contrast - 40%
    Gamma - 40%

    LG Screen:
    Brightness - 50%
    Digital Vibrance - 0%
    Contrast - 47%
    Gamma - 25%

Does RivaTuner need to be a running process during startup, or is it a utility that you tweak the video settings and can than delete the app?

Regardless, I will give it a try.

Edit : Nevermind. I figured out why my Nvidia control panel wasnt working correctly. The process nvcpl was not set to run automatically. So whenever I would manually go into the control panel and click on a slider to make it work, it would actually run that service temporarily. I now set that service to run at startup, and Voila!
