I know that they get a lot of flak but my recent experience was so pleasant that I thought I must share it with all and encourage others to do the same.
Some of you would recollect my thread about my DVD drive fiasco. While I was trying to get the 2 DVD's out, I had anyway logged a support call on Dell Website. 2 days later I got a mail from them giving me a lot of steps on how to attempt to eject the CD. I replied saying that the problem is now gone but I will appreciate if someone can have a look to ensure that my drive is not defective (due to the frightening sound it makes). Yesterday people from Dell called and a Dell technician came down home and actually replaced the drive - no questions asked !! The new one still makes the same sound, of course....but at least I don't have the lurking suspicion that something might have gone wrong in my drive.
Also I had logged another call regarding the BH200 headset not working in Stereo. For that too I got a call and I was hand delivered a new BH200 (Someone came and gave it to me in office without even collecting my defective one which is in home). The new one works fantastically well - the sound quality is such a relief compared to the speakers....beyond description !!!
So I am very happy with Dell service. Over e-mail, this is much more than I would have expected even after shouting over phone...

I'm glad you had a good experience. I never thought that everyone had bad experiences with them, and this shows that.
But not everyone has had good experiences either. Glad yours was positive.
