I suggest you cancel your order, because I think it's pretty expensive. My 1720 with Wireless N, 85wHr Battery, and 1920 x 1200 monitor, 8600M GT, and MS OFFICE (free) was 2K. You don't need the 3 year warranty, because either you find something wrong with the laptop during the first month or the laptop will stay perfect for 5-7 years.

Don't open it, you should't have any restocking fees if it is not open.

YUp, warranty is pretty much useless (except (*accidental one, still, Asus offers free 1yrs accidental warranty!). I highly doubt 24hour home service covers broken screen/motherboard for exemple

(Quality) computer parts are either Dead-On-Arrival or will probably last a long time motherboard now comes with an automatic reset if there is a bios-proble

You could probably look at something like an Asus F8SV/F8SA. They should be arround 1400-1600.

    Asus warranty is this-
    1. 30 days no bright dot
    2. 2 years global warranty, 48hours turn arround with both way overnight shipping. Valid in every Asus-equipped Country!
    3. 1 year accidental damage warranty (US, Can)

Also comes with transport bag & mouse

Are you actually trying to compare an Asus with the system she ordered? Are you actually trying to compare warranties? You obviously have never owned a Dell...but I bet you got an Asus.

    Val23...

If it shipped and you return it without opening it, THEY WILL charge u 15% restocking fees and mailing.

Your downfall is that it was shipped. When it is received, check it over very carefully for any problems. if there is one (ie squeal) then you can exercise the Total satisfacton Guarantee and have it returned for a 100% refund.

Ive done this and its simple and they even send a mailing label and or courier to pick it up.

I still think a 3-year warranty is pretty much useless. I've used two desktops and two laptops already. And I've used them for years and nothing happened. Like I said either the problem happens when you get it, or it'll be fine for 6 to 7 years.

I disagree totally above and believe, if you can get it discounted, the 3 years completecare warranty is the absolute best piece of comfort you can have.

If you get it discounted... but $300 doesn't really worth it...

You've obviously never had an accident with your laptop. Not everyone is so lucky.

IMO, Complete Care is essential for a laptop.....especially if you plan on traveling with it. All it takes is one accidental drop/spill and your out of warranty laptop is a paper weight.

I also plan on investing in a $0 deductible through my home insurance in the event it's ever lost or stolen. The extra $5 a month is a small price to pay.
