Well, it looks like my Inspiron 6400/E1505 no longer detects my power cord, and claims that it's an unknown device. It won't charge my battery, but keeps it at Idle.

Anyways, my power adapter I'm currently using is 65W. I was wondering if a 90W adapter would work. I just want to make sure before I make the purchase, so that it doesn't give me more problems.

Dell really needs to learn how to make better adapters...Ughh

    I appreciate the help!

I tested removing the battery, and keeping the AC cord plugged in, and it works. But why won't it charge the battery? Really weird....

Sounds like its a battery problem. Sometimes this is fixable by cycling the battery via the BIOS. If not then you may need to get another battery

I don't think it's a battery problem because every time I boot up, I get this message, "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. "

    Thanks!

If it is the power adapter, it might not be putting out enough wattage to run the system and charge the battery.
