My company will replace my HPNC6220 by a Dell 610.

I currently have a 12/24v power adpter for the HP (I usualy use my computer on trucks for vehicle tests).
My HP adapter can provide 18.5V 3.5A and I would like to know if I can use it on the Dell (off course, changing the plug).

If not, does anybody know if Dell has a 12/24V DC adapter to sell?

    Thanks

Won't they give you the power brick for the Dell?? Why do you need to use the HP one?

I do not suggest you just use the HP adaptor for the Dell. Even if all the values match up (amps, watts, etc). If you cannot get a hold of the OEM adaptor, third-party ones are available, the best being from Targus and Kensington (IMO)

The problem is that I need the standard 110-240AC input power brick but I also do a lot of vehicle testing.
On these tests I can have either a 12vDC vehicles (cars) or 24V vehicles DC(Trucks).

This HP brick can manage either 12vDC or 24vDC as input.

All other car adapters I had found just manage 12V or 24V only, so I when I am on a 24vDC vehicle, I need to take power directely from the battery, witch makes me carry more cables.

I'm tryng too discover if Dell has anything like that or if I'll need to start carring cables and inverter again :(

    Thanks

Absolutly no problem if the voltage is within 2V.

If the HP adapter current rating is more than your stock dell, better yet. If less then you may have trouble charging battery and running the laptop at the same time so try to match within 1 amp or so for the low side.

Company truck? Get a 400W 12V to 115AC power converter and just use the Dell AC/DC adapter!
