I have an inspiron 9100 first of all.

Now, at the moment we are having a bad thunder storm, so the power has went out twice. each time it does, the trackpad,, track ball and my usb mouse freeze and dont move. Also I cant do any keyboard commands so i am assuming the whole system is frozen.

So it happens exactly when the power goes out, and the machine switches to battery for a SPLIT second, becauset he power comes right back on and then its running on the adapter and not battery.

Anyone know if this can be fixed? I cant imagine that being good for my machine

My old thinkpad could take it. the power would go out, and it would go straight to battery and then go right back to using the adapter for power when the power came back on in a second and there would be no freeze..

It could have been a small power surge. Try unplugging the brick from the wall and see if it happens, if not it was probably an electrical problem, not computer. In that case you should make sure you're on a battery powered backup surge protector (APC), that should do it for you since it seamlessly switches. Also, try a voltage regulator, you might need to go to a music store for that one.

Before you buy anything, try unplugging from the wall. Also try doing a windows reinstall, for all you know something could have funked up power management.
