The a/c adapter on my Inspiron 600m wore from fatigue and broke at the plug-in point. I spliced it back together and it does power the computer but I get a message that the adapter is not recognized. Now it will not charge my battery even though it runs the computer. I installed a new battery, no luck. Does anyone know if I can make this charge or do I need to by a new adapter? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

I think you should buy a new adapter to be safe.
