My power supply exploded. I was just listening to some music, internet, and typing on MS Word then all of a sudden my computer says that it is unplugged and i started to smell something odd. it turns out that my psu exploded and it's stinking up my whole room. Im guessing that there could have been some sparks/small fire because my carpet is now black-ish (luckily hy home didnt burn).

I looked at my temps right after i saw my carpet and it was 84/116 degrees F, and peaks were 104/120 degrees F(CPU/GPU).

    Why did it break?
    anyone else have this issue?
If i tell dell my story about how it almost burnt down my house could i get something free?

BTW, i got a 3 yr warrenty so i can easily get a new psu.

    specs:
    2.0ghz CD
    2 bg 667mhz ram
    100 7200 rpm hdd
    go7900gs

Ouch...sorry to hear that. I'm glad it didn't hurt anything more...

Your computer temps were not that worrisome, and quite frankly I don't think the computer had anything to do with this.

Why? Probably some defect in the PSU...
Anyone else? I don't know...guys please post if you did.
Tell Dell story? I'd recommend telling them you were lucky you were there and made sure it didn't burn something down. You might get something, you might not and I wouldn't worry about that if I was you; PSU failure...that's the first time I've ever heard of that happening...
