    Folks,

Just got a new Precision M6300. Using PowerDVD 7DX the system would lock hard after about 10 minutes of viewing a dvd. I deleted powerDVD and then re-installed. Fixed the lockup issue.

However now when I am running on battery I get a pop up ALL the time in the upper right corner of the screen. It says, "For optimal playback performance it is strongly recommended that the power adapter is plugged in." What a stupid concept! Duh! I know this. Why do you constantly display this on my screen to block the movie! What genius programed this.. Gee its a laptop. Maybe I am on a plane! without power... :realmad:

Please any ideas on how to disable this brilliant piece of programing?

    Thanks

I'm going to put an older version of Power DVD on after finding this horrilbe "feature" of version 7. There are plenty of freebie players out there that will work as well. Let me know if you find a setting to disable the popup.

    Thanks for replying.

Turns out the best way to fix the issue is to down load the 30 trial version...

The issue was specific to the POS version supplied by Dell. It appears that version is bad.

After encountering this stupid problem myself, I contacted Cyberlink (PowerDVD) and submitted a Technical Support query asking how I turn off the message. Here's what I got back:

    **************************************************
    Dear XXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting CyberLink Online Customer Support.

In regard to your issue, we regret to say that there is no way or configuration in PowerDVD DX software to turn this message to OFF, this message will always be displayed by the PowerDVD DX software if the Power Adapter is unplugged.

We regret the inconvenience you have encountered so far.

    **************************************************

Obviously, this company doesn't intend to fix the problem nor does it care.

The 'folks' at PowerDVD not only do not care. I suspect they did this on purpose in order to get you to buy the upgrade. I would suggest that no one support them in their efforts. i.e. do not buy Cyberlink products.
