Hi, I ordered a Dell XPS m1530 on thursday (the 27th) and it is still in pre-production. Is this normal?

Yes. Call Dell automated status support or chat with CS to find out more about the actual status. Mine was on boxing stage for 3 days and finally shipped on last Saturday. I should be receiving my M1530 this afternoon.

Because of the time of the year it just may be, New Years and all. Give it a week and wait for it to click over. Preproduction to production is only approval of funds. Remember, production goes right until boxing.

I'm in the UK too; mines been in pre-production for 12 days (almost 2 weeks now) but the rep said the internet software which allows you to track your order is not always updated and my M1530 is currently being assembled and should be with me before the 10th of January which was my estimated shipping date
