I found a pre-configured M1210 at a price I like with most of the features I want except for these...

    1GB Dual Channel DDR2 667MHz, 2 Dimm and 120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

How much can I reasonably expect to pay to upgrade to 2GB and a 100GB 7200RPM drive?

And can the current memory be completely replaced, i.e. are both DIMMs accessible.

(I'd sell off the 512MB DIMMs and re-purpose the hard drive)

The ram is a very good choice. Both slots are upgradeable, one slot is under the keyboard, and requires minor disassembly to access, though its not very difficult at all. I reccomend buying an external enclosure for the old HD, so you can still use it for external storage.

ICeman are the drives PATA or SATA? I am not trying to be a jerk but the drive case is PATA you linked to. I was looking for myself and noticed it. Or does that not matter? Just a question. :)

I was hoping you were right I would like to get a larger drive for my M1210 but I do not have a SATA external drive. Oh well 30 bucks is not bad. Is there any other software that will copy bit by bit other than CMS?

I could not copy all of the partitions on my last XPS for some reason. Why would that have happened? I am not trying to steal this thread but I have another question is the newer 160GB laptop drive good or able to work in an M1210?

the only reason they could not copy is usually due to corruption checkdisk will fix this
and yes 160 gig drives work fine
