Been hunting for a new laptop these last few days. Was first looking at the Precision 15 5000 Series (5510) but not sure I like the idea of a glossy screen also check out the Lenovo P50 but couldn't quite handle the high price then came across the 7510.

I'll be using the laptop for work and play. Work consists of spinning VM's up and writing some code... probably 32GB RAM will be required with E3-1505M Processor. The matte 4k screen is also very attractive however one
thing I have noticed (which is a deal breaker) is that there is no Thunderbolt 3 available in Europe yet

    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dell...-m7510-workstation&c=de&l=de&s=bsd&cs=debsdt1

When configuring in the US the "Chassis Option" does include TB 3

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...ision-m7510-workstation&c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04

Any one have any idea when Thunderbolt 3 will be added to this model in Europe ?

What do you plan on using T3 for? There aren't many peripherals that uses the Thunderbolt interface.
But yeah, I noticed that too when I picked up a 7510 from Dell.be.

Incidentally, I didn't like the 4K screen, saps power from my rendering jobs. If you need any sort of GPU power, I'd stick with 1080p.

Look_a_bird__ - Tbh I'm not sure what I would use it for but VR springs to mind via an external GPU peripheral once a suitable ones released but I actually bought my last laptop around 12 years ago (its been desktops since) and won't be buying another one for a while so would like it as future proofed as possible.
About this EU/US availability I spoke with a Dell Rep on the phone the other day and he's actually assured me that TB3 is available in EU despite it not being evident on the EU Dell pages. He's going to send a quote across wherein I hope to see TB3 as confirmed.

I won't be doing much rendering but more work which typically can involve a combination of 2 or 3 concurrent VM's, some IDE's (VS, pycharm, phpstorm) but I'd also like to be able to sit away from my desktop in the evening and do some Lightroom photo editing.... I was very tempted by the 5510 machine but I suspect I'll get a longer life out of the 7510 for not much more investment.
Ordering it with the cheapest drive and RAM options since I plan to swap out with a Samsung 950 nvme drive and EVO 2TB as soon as possible!

I have a 7510 on hand, one word can be used to describe it. Tank.
But in all seriousness, I have a dock with it. The regular 1080p IPS display is very good on its own (I'm pretty sure its 90%+ sRGB), and I like being able to pop it over to 3 external monitors when I'm working @ my desk. Dock beats out thunderbolt any day of the week for my purposes, but if you're gonna do VR then I suppose you're just gonna have to wait until Dell updates all the configurations on their site/ with their reps.

A lot of the software guys here do compatibility testing with VMs, helps to have 64 gigs of ram and lots of screens. One of them had problems with the 4K screen and the 3 monitor setup, we just ended up asking for a 1080p swap and problem goes away.

Just my thoughts, hope it helps.

Ordered system today! Hopefully will arrive end of the week or next.
Went with the Intel Xeon E3-1505M and managed to call up and get the order placed with TB3.
Ordering a Samsung 950 M.2 drive and Samsung Evo 2TB for boot and storage drive but wondering about where to get RAM from.
Was going to pick up 2 of these: Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 ECC SODIMM
But Crucial claims they are not compatible which I am surprised about.
If incompatible can any one point me in the direction of a suitable SODIMM that is ?
