Has any one tried the A05 BIOS, and if so, did it fix anything significant?

Yes I installed it whenever it became available a little while back, I noticed nothing at all, and I'm very familiar with all BIOS options on the M4300. Unless there's an issue you need addressed, there really isn't a need although the upgrade is painless and easy.

Harvey, I've since then just upgraded to A07 on the M4300 a couple of days ago, works just as stably as before. Supposely has some temperature/fan fixes and some other TPM UPC fix that I have no idea what it is. So far I think I've noticed that my fan switches to high speed mode more often, e.g. when transferring large files, etc but the odd thing is that my CPU usage when it does come on is not more than 50 percent in either core, nor is the GPU (which is connected to the same heatsink via a different heatpipe) doing anything.

Thanks. ( I also got your PM). I have a couple of comments/questions:

    1. I'm using XP (still have the original BIOS version), not Vista. The biggest annoyance I have is on bootup, where the opening windows sound skips about half the time. I don't notice any skipping any time else.

    2. Was your CPU operating at more than 50%( per core) prior to the update?

    3. Do you use a docking station? From what I've read, it appears that the safest way to flash the BIOS is with the laptop undocked - is this how you did your flash?

    4. Have you noticed any speed degradation in any applications, etc. since the cpu does not register more than 50% (could this be the "normal" number for a dual core machine)?

    Thanks,
    Harvey

Check your PMs. Also if you have any other questions with the M4300 feel free to ask, PM is the best way to get me.
