Hi, I've got a Dell Precision M90 and it seems that there is a conflict between M-Audio Firewire Audiophile and my system. The problem is that when I even play an MP3 file with either Winamp or Media Player the control panel of my sound card freezes in less than a minute and I can't change the volume with either the mouse or the knobs on the sound card. In order to solve the problem I should stop the media player and the interface starts to work in less than a minute. But if I play some music, the interface freezes again.

I also once got a very loud static noise while trying to change the volume.

There are so many inputs on this machine (USB, card readers, bluetooth) and I have disabled the following but the problem still exists:

    Ricoh Memory Stick Host Controller
    Ricoh MMC Host Controller
    Ricoh xD-Picture Card Host Controller
    Conexant V.92 Modem
1394 Net Adapter (IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller is enabled)
    Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller
    USB Smart Media Card Reader
Internal Bluetooth device (shows up in the USB section)

Enabaling all the mentioned hardwares didn't help either.

    I'm still suspicious about:

-Windows Hotfix KB888111 High Definition Audio Driver Package
    -OZ776 SCR Cardbus
    -SigmaTel Audio Soundcard

And finally here is my IRQ list:

    IRQ 0 System board OK
IRQ 1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard OK
    IRQ 2 System timer OK
    IRQ 5 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller - 27DA OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK
IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System OK
IRQ 12 Synaptics PS/2 Port Pointing Device OK
IRQ 13 Numeric data processor OK
IRQ 14 Primary IDE Channel OK
IRQ 15 Secondary IDE Channel OK
IRQ 16 Mobile Intel(R) 955XM/945GM/PM/GMS/940GML Express PCI Express Root Port - 27A1 OK
IRQ 16 NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M OK
    IRQ 16 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D0 OK
    IRQ 17 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D2 OK
    IRQ 17 Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection OK
    IRQ 18 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D4 OK
    IRQ 19 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D6 OK
IRQ 19 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller OK
    IRQ 20 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C OK
    IRQ 20 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC OK
IRQ 21 Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio OK
    IRQ 21 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C9 OK
    IRQ 22 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CA OK
    IRQ 23 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CB OK

Any idea what is causing the problem?

    Sorry about the long post!
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam
