what exactly is the creative sound option that was added? Is it software or hardware?
-
Aparently its not great from the comments i hear about it.. but i guess for $20 more..its probably better than the Intel option...
I'd probably get a proper Audigy2 ZS card instead..but i'm kinda waiting for a Express card Xi-FI..(hopefully).. -
Its software
-
so technically you could install it on any computer?
-
It is software -
repeat: so i can install it on any computer?
-
It should install on any computer if you have the software, yes.
As for sound, I think it sounds great! it is much louder than other laptops I have heard in my time. The only thing I noticed on my E1705 was that parts of the chassis/ body started to rattle at higher sound levels... just like in your car after you upgrade to louder speakers... panel rattle -
yeah its the bottom left corner of the keyboard that rattles, at least on mine. And that's with normal sound and no subwoofer, err "dedicated bass driver"
-
where can we download this software from the Dell site??
-
I really like the creative software, speakers sound tens times better after tweaking all the settings. With my 8600, I could never get it to sound right, even with third party software. For whatever reason, I'm having more favorable resullts using the audigy software. I must admit though, when I first found out it was software only, I was pretty pissed, now I'm content.

Whatever the case, it sounds to me like a bait-and-switch. I mean Dell's site makes no mention of software, only that it is a SB audio. The the average and technical users alike, One assumes they are getting a built-in SB audio card. I can't believe that 1. they haven't been sued and 2. that SB would allow them to market it as such. Granted they are getting their money - so why would they care..............
In all it's just another deceptive sales effort on the part of Dell.
That is about the only think i dislike..........
