    its kinda dumb.

The Media center disk I am getting from dell, Does it include all the crap from dell?

my plan was just use the MC CD and delete all partitions, recreate, format. And install MC, Then DL drivers.

I just wasn't sure if this was pointless if the CD I ordered is just putting me into a circle.

    Another thing,

Could I use that MC cd to install onto my Media TV computer And then put the media tv computers XP pro onto the laptop?

    Thanks!

The disk from Dell will be a clean system...meaning no junk software or extra software like Cyberlink PowerDVD, etc. You'll need to get the drivers either from the web or from the pc before you reformat (see my sticky for more info at the top of Dell's forum).

I'm a bit confused about your last question. The disk from dell will be OEM so you can only install it on Dell systems.

yea, I can grab the drivers from my other Desktop and burn em or network em over, (pending if the network card driver installs or not)

.....How "Dell" does it have to be? :)

I am not sure but I think the PC I want to install MC onto has a dell motherboard...

Are you talking about using the same drivers that came with your desktop?

As far as I know, it has to be a system bought from dell. I'm not sure if it would install just because it detects a dell motherboard.

sorry for the incoherence, I really need to work on that.

I can Download the drivers to a "Laptop folder" on the desktop and then access it in theory from the laptop Via network to install.
If not just use the desktop to create a "drivers CD"

hmm... Might have to test out what I can install the MC onto.

LOL, its okay. I thoughts that is what you meant, but wanted to be sure. Sometimes I assume the wrong thing.

I'm not really sure on what parts the system must have in order to use an OEM version. You'll be able to tell immediately because if the system doesn't match, MCE won't even try to install. You should get an error.
