From the 3rd of this month there has been a huge price hike on most of the laptops I've seen from DELL India... They ve cut down the free upgrades for almost all the models except the Vostro 1000 (for which too it isnt a real free upgrade too)

So the prices have increased a lot for the configs I had been checking for the past month...

The price for my DELL Inspiron in my siggy was Rs.58453 till August 3rd but now it is Rs.63564.00 which is more like a 5000 bucks increase :(

This is mainly due to the lack of free upgrade from 80 GB HDD to an 120 GB and also the free upgrade to a 8400 GS GPU which was available till last month....

Damn.... I hope they bring back some good upgrades soon

Yah, that's true but surprisingly the price hikes have not been made so much on the Vostro line. The prices have reduced a little and now you also have the option of Windows XP operating system but you have to pay Rs. 2900 extra !!!!!!!
Earlier my vostro 1500 config price was 66,403/- and now the price is reduced to 65,272/-

Yes i saw that one too

Actually I had a Quotation from 27th July, which is valid till 26th Aug and I was waiting for prices to come down

I saw the hike on 3rd and decided to order using the Old Quotation for the exact config of Ash's Sig(Ruby Red) for 59438.00 INR

My Order should be placed today once Citibank confirms the payment to Dell

So i guess the waiting starts from today :)

Let us know how it progresses. I ordered the XPS M1330 on the 30th, and my online order status still shows me " Your Order has been Received, An estimated delivery date for this order will be available on this site 2 days after the order has been received. ". The CSR told me that the page would be updated on Monday, but nothing has changed till now. I'll probably call up tomorrow to figure out what's going on.

Yep there is a 5k increase.... I m probably thinking that they will reduce the prices drastically from the current price so that they can get more orders.... Also I was hoping for some more decrease in the prices by the end of this month but dunno for sure :(

I think that they are getting enough orders for the time being.... that should explain the price hike

I doubt that is the case in India though in other countries they have been crunching out orders....

Yes I do agree that prices have gone up in India.. But you can notice that the RAM prices have come down drastically. Earlier it used to be roughly around Rs.10,000 for an upgrade to 2GB from 1GB. But now it has come down to Rs.3000/- odd. So if someone is going for a 2GB RAM.. the price increase don't matter much I think..

Actually earlier also the RAM price was around Rs.3000 and there were free upgrade options for the GPU and HDD (in the case of 1520).... But now there are no free upgrade options at all for any of the latest Inspirons or Vostros :(
