I ordered a m1330 yesterday, and got an acknowledge email telling me the subtotal is $1599. However, I then received a confirmation email telling me the subtotal is $1616. I used the online chat system to ask what happened and the person told me to call dell on the phone instead. Since it is kind of annoying to have to call to fix this, I asked the person to cancel my order.

Does this kind of price inconsistency happen often? I am thinking of ordering it again after the cancellation is approved.

Usually if you order a computer on the day the price of the different items change and you don't get the confirmation before the change (let's say you ordered it on Tuesday, the prices change on Wednesday and you received the confirmed order on Wednesday), then you will be subjected to the new prices for the items. Yes, I know you got an acknowledgement mail 1 hour after you ordered the computer, but I could never find (it happened the same to me) how to change that with the Dell guys (the bussiness branch said the total care branch can change it and viceversa).

You cancelled your order over $17? If you would have taken a few minutes to call Dell, you probably would have gotten the $1599 AND $50 credit/free shipping just because.

Sometimes you need to be thankful when Dell screws up - usually you make out like a bandit!

BUT you already cancelled so now it is your loss.....

When I cancelled my M1330 and told them to pick it up, the girl offered my $400 to keep it! I could not believe it! I told her no and she offered $400 and a $100 coupon!

I told her to pick it up!

not quite the same situation, but i found it was cheaper to get a cheaper system, and upgrade it to the specs i wanted, rather then to upgrade the more expensive system to the same specs... saved about £60/$120
