    Hey

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 model, after a year of use i decided to format the notebook and put a fresh XP Pro to get rid of the Bloatware. I tried to find the guide on this website but i didnt found it.

After format, my sound card was not installed. I installed it using my Drivers CD. But there are many things which didnt installed, which popped up every time i restart the pc, to get rid of it i disabled them from Device Manager. I have attached a pic of the Device Manager.

    My System Configuration is

    Core2Duo T7200 2.0 Ghz Processor
    2 GB 667 Mhz Ram
    100 GB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS 256 MB

Please help me out giving me a step by step procedure so that i reinstall XP Pro again with all the neccessary drivers. I will reinstall XP Pro with your perfect instructions.

Also tell me whether its possible to put a direct BIOS other than the Dell BIOS.

Also tell me which is the BEST Antivirus, Antispyware and Firewall.

    Thanx

I did this install last week on my E1705. The drivers that I installed were the Intel Mobile Chipset, Ricoh R5C832, Broadcom 440x, Intel 945GM Graphics Controller, Sigmatel STAC 92xx, Conexant D110. I hope that helps somewhat. I believe the modem driver has something to do with the audio in some way. Not sure. My device manager is not completely clean. It has one unknown device but I don't know what it is and don't care.

    Don't know about Bios.

For Antivirus I use avast! and it's free and has never let me down once. For spyware I use CCleaner. For firewall I just use the windows one.

    hope this helps.

    Go to this website:

    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...D=INS_PNT_P4_9400&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

download the chipset drivers first, install that one first, then wireless card, then NIC, then video, then sound, also install the Rico driver, and make sure to install quickset wich manages the functions on your computer like the audio buttons and all that stuff, if you dont know which drivers download just give a call to dell and they will help you out. Also the video is gonna be depending if you have integrated, 128 or 256 or other, also audio its diferent too, dont worry too much about bios.

You need to install the Ricoh drivers, that will get rid of the 3x base system devices.
