A buddy of mine has a Dell Inspiron 1100. He frequently uses his TV as a second monitor. Somehow during the process of switching monitors he managed to disable both the laptop screen and the secondary monitor. When I boot up his laptop I see the windows post/startup screen then it goes blank. The computer continues to boot as you hear the windows startup tune and I can hear the windows update thing make its noise from the taskbar. Any suggestions on what I can do to get the monitor to display?

Try pressing Fn+f8. I know that is a lowsy suggestion. I'm going to change the thread title so more people will hopefully come to you aid.
