    Here's the breakdown
    notebook overheats 5 minutes into playing a game

    Send in #1
    replaced fan and motorboard

    Send in #2
    same

    Send in #3
    replaced my 8600M GT with an 8400M GS without letting me know

    Send in #4
    they say the 8400M GS will be replaced with the 8600M GT (got it back with 8400M GS still)

    now i got to send it in a 5th time so they can replace it. no matter who i talk to they will NOT give me any kind of compensation what is wrong with this picture??

    please help it's been almost 5 months since this has started and i've been without my notebook

    After the 4th repair, US law allows you to demand a refund. A full refund.

    They are wasting a lot of time and money refurbishing you over and over like this also. You might want to mention that. Also, I am really surprised that they apparently have not bothered to check the CPU / Heatsink / Paste combination. Aside from GPU, that would be a total red flag for me. But ya, at this point I would be done with the BS and demand a refund.

    so i got off the phone yesterday with the senior resolution person and she told me that the 8600M GT DDR2 is no longer made for dell. So she is going to look into solutions and call me back today so we can come to a resolution. i personally still want my 8600M GT so the only way to get it is with an XPS 1530. What are my chances of a swap??

    From a 1520? I would say real low. If you returned for a refund, and then just ordered an XPS, maybe then you would be set. I didn't know that the 1520 ever had a discrete graphics option in the first place.
