    Hi there,

I have developed a problem with my Dell laptop and believe it probably is a software issue rather than a hardware one. Any suggestions would be great.

My laptop runs fine when I do not have the charger plugged in, but upon plugging in the charger the laptop screen dims so much taht I can no longer see it, although it is still turned on. Upon putting the laptop to sleep, or pressing Ctrl, Alt and Del and getting the task menu up the screen comes back up. Also if i pull the charger out and follow the above step, the screen goes back to normal, if i leave the charger in it carries on doing it.

This is highly annoying and I have tried fiddling about with the power settings but have not managed to get anything to fix the issue.

I am running windows 7 on the laptop if that helps.

If nobody can help could you point me in the direction of a forum which can?

Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Adam Walker

Try pressing the function key (Fn) and the up arrow while plugged in.

You might have to adjust the brightness in the BIOS.

Go to power options in control panel and then go to change brightness, there you should find your answer.Hope this helped you.
    Good luck.
