Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I've got a problem taht needs urgent solvinghlep is GREATLY appreciated.
When starting my dell inspiron 6000, the desktop pictue loads fine, but after a few seconds a screen pops up 'userinit.exe'. whether you click on the send button or the don't send button, the same thing happens: the userinit screen closes, but the pc just lags on the desktop image without ANY progression whatsoever....
I dont know if its understandable or common, but I did my best to explain.
Also, before this new bug, my pc would take aaages to load the dektop items after showing a plain image for a long time.
Hope you can help !!
xoxo

1) Which antivirus software are u using in the laptop?
2) Checkout http://techblissonline.com/how-to-fix-infected-userinitexe-and-related-errors/ -
thanks for the fast reply.
The antivirus programme it uses is probably AVG and I don't know what version.. for the rest nothing. It's my moms pc and she doesn't really know anything about it......
The link you sent requires loading of the actual desktop though doesnt it ? but nothing will show including the START button. And the XP CD won't load when I start the pc with the cd in it. I just get back to the desktop image - damn -
Have u tried windows key + R combination? It opens up the run prompt and u will be able to input the commands in there.

What is exactly the error? Does it say that userinit.exe not found?
-
I've just tried ctrl+alt+delete when at the desktop, then new task n then entered 'explorer.exe' ... that brings my entire desktop back but when i shut down and restart the pc, the userinit.exe error is there again....
-
The userinit.exe is either deleted by antivirus software, or is simply corrupt. The link given should help you fix this problem. Without userinit.exe the PC won't boot properly.

it's in dutch so maybe translated weirdly but basically:
userinit.exe
in userinit.exe a fault has occurred and has to be shut down. we apologise for the inconvenience (ya better apologise damnit)

That is one good way to do it. Rollback. Putting the backup to good use.
