Is it just me or is Outlook 2007 running crazy slow on Vista. I have tried to change all possible settings. What to do?
I got CD2 2.0 7200, 2gig ram and 100gig 7200 harddrive. No games and i did a clean install of Vista. It should be fast enough to run Outlook one would think. All other office 2007 programms runs really smoth and fast. In fact everything works like a charm except Outlook.
Sorry for my spelling. I am Swedish

well I've been talking to a tech. and the easiest way is to re-install Windows ( what ever that means ) and try to re-install Vista . I haven't the time to start this , but as soon as I do I'll e-mail back to let you know how I made out . In detail too .

Cant say I had any trouble, but I did a fresh vista install, and then just restored my user data from a backup. Office installed with no issues and the machine has been running fine, although it has only been 4 days.

Are you sure that the problem is with outlook and not your internet connection or your email server? When my email server is being retarded, things take a long time in outlook, but it's not really outlook's problem. Try a different email client (like mozilla thunderbird) and see if you still have the same problems.

when you say crazy slow you mean it's crazy slow when it's receiving mails from your e mail client? or the program is crazy slow when you try to run it?

The programm is running really slow when looking in calendar etc. My internet connection is fine. When running windows mail it works like a charm. It is just outlook 2006 which is slow. I have found other people with the same problem

The problem -- which is absolutely inexcusable -- is that Office 2007 (Outlook, specifically) crawls, even on this superfast machine. The hard-drive is also constantly in motion, slowing things down even more. I'm not alone in these observations. You can read other Office 2007 horror stories here and here. Despite a small .PST file -- I reduced mine from close to a gig to less than 150 MB -- my Intel Centrino Duo-driven notebook chugs along like a 386 trying to run an application originally written for a mainframe system. Even such tasks as composing a simple email are delayed by a few seconds before my typed words ultimately appear on the screen (and send / receives and related activities take an eternity).
